Introduction
North Jutland is famous for its coasts with broad beaches, beach towns and fishing villages, the magnificent landscape with old coastal cliffs, dunes, heath, moors and forest as well as the special light at the “top” of Skagen.

The light has attracted artists and others to the area for 150 years. Many of North Jutland’s cities have sprung up around old trading sites along the coast. This also applies to the capital, Aalborg, which is at Limfjorden. The walking-route in North Jutland is marked with the name Nordsøstien and has a total length of nearly 450 km. |
The route winds through coastal landscapes, often on old tracks such as highroads, emergency roads and church paths. But the path also follows smaller roads in some places. The stretch along the West Coast from Bulbjerg in the west to Skagen in the north is 190 km long. Along the milder Kattegat coast from Skagen to Hadsund in the south, the route is 198 km long. Around Læsø the route is 55 km long. |
