Introduction

HordalandCounty with more than 450,000 inhabitants is the third largest of Norway's counties.

The landscape of Hordaland is varied and magnificent - keywords: Islands, skerries and coves.

Fjords with steep mountain sides, impressive waterfalls, mountain plateaux and glaciers. Bergen, with its many attractions, is the gateway to Western Norway and the fjords.

In Bergen you will find the county administration, governmental regional offices for Hordaland and national governmental directorates.

In the county of Hordaland the North Sea Trail runs from Sveio in the south to Fedje in the north, through the municipalities of Fedje, Øygarden, Fjell, Sund, Austevoll, Fitjar, Stord, Bømlo and Sveio. The entire length of the trail is 180 km.

Here you may walk for days, even weeks.However, most of us will probably enjoy the North Sea Trail on day trips, and perhaps spend a night or two along the trail.
