The paths of the North Sea Trail thread their way through large sections of the outer coast of Rogaland. You have ample opportunities to walk the county lengthwise, or if the prospects of an afternoon walk is more tempting, the paths are there waiting for you.

In the region Dalane, the trail runs through a rough coast line, interspersed with idyllic places in the sheltered coves and short fjords. You have many exciting adventures to choose from, among them the Jøssingfjord and the picturesque wooden-house towns Sogndalstrand and Egersund. |
|
The trail then takes us on to the mellow Låg-Jæren (Low Jæren) with its plains and the most beautiful beaches in Norway. This is the landscape of light, of the sky and the sea. Visit among other sights the lighthouses, old churches, mighty archaeological relics and monuments, the old wooden-house quarters of Stavanger, and Sandnes with its museums and numerous pathways. The Boknafjord opens the north county's abundance of islands which takes us up to Western Norway and to Fjord Norway. Experience heather moors and cultural treasures, among them the Utstein monastery, Karmøy and the village Skudeneshavn, Avaldsnes with its Nordvegen History Centre, the herring town Haugesund, the fishing community at Utsira, and the old customs post Nedstrand. |
