Walking Nordsøstien – part of the North Sea Trail

In North Jutland the Nordsøstien passes through many different natural and cultural environments. The coast’s only bird cliff is at Bulbjerg.

The reserves in Vejlerne and Skagen Gren are famous for the great bird migration. On Lille Vildmose, Northern Europe’s largest raised bog, you can see red deer, wild boar and aurochs.

Here and in Koldmosen you can see the use the inhabitants of North Jutland make of the bogs. The North’s largest coastal fishing village is at Thorupstrand in Hanherred. This area is especially rich in memories of the past.

Nordsøstien runs through famous beach towns such as Blokhus, Løkken, Lønstrup, Tversted, Gl. Skagen, Aså and Øster Hurup.

Here you can study tourism’s cultural environments as well as the town’s history in trading and fishing.

In the old market towns of Frederikshavn, Skagen and Sæby there are well preserved urban environments and lively shopping streets. Hals in Limfjorden is Denmark’s smallest market town.

Pamphlets with information and maps of the 9 sections of the North Sea Trail in North Jutland are available at the local tourist offices, museums and municipal offices.
