Introduction

From Saltburn to Filey, the North Sea Trail follows the dramatic Yorkshire coastline for 50 miles (80 Km).

High on the cliff tops one moment then dipping down into pretty wooded valleys and picturesque villages the next, it is renowned for its dramatic views and the warmth of its welcome.

With a varied landscape of sandy beaches and sheltered coves, exhilarating cliff tops and moorland fringe, this is great walking country.

For much of its length the Trail lies within the North York Moors National Park.

One of just eight National Parks in England, it has stunning scenery and a wealth of geological, archaeological and wildlife interest.

The historic towns of Whitby and Scarborough provide all the facilities you need for a superb walking holiday and, with their abbey and castle, make this a great place to explore.
